FCPNLO - 7 Workshop : From sub-diffusion to the wave equation: Analysis, models and computation.
University of Sussex, Brighton, UK 26 - 28 September 2019
FCPNLO 2019 : From sub-diffusion to the wave equation: Analysis, models and computation.
A workshop on Fractional Calculus, Probability and Non-local Operators: Applications and recent Developments will take place at the University of Sussex, 26-28 September 2019.
The space-time fractional diffusion equation can be extended to time fractional derivatives of order larger than 1, thus interpolating between diffusion and wave behaviour. In this workshop, we will touch upon several aspects of this theme, bringing analysts, numerical analysts, physicists and probabilists together in view of the forthcoming INI program on Fractional Differential Equations (https://www.newton.ac.uk/event/fde).
This workshop is the seventh meeting in the series of Fractional Calculus, Probability and Non-Local Operators: Applications and Recent Developments held at BCAM, Bilbao, Spain in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.

Numerical Methods for Hyperbolic Problems 2019
INSTITUTO DE ESTUDIOS PORTUARIOS, MÁLAGA PORT (Spain) on June 17-21, 2019.
NumHyp conferences focus on recent developments and new directions in the area of numerical methods for hyperbolic and convection dominated partial differential equations (PDEs). These PDEs have been subjected to extensive analytical and numerical studies over the last decades. It is widely known that their solutions can exhibit very complex behavior including the presence of singularities such as shock waves, sensitive dependence to initial conditions, presence of multiple spatio-temporal scales, appearance of turbulent regimes, etc. The design and the analysis of numerical methods with good properties to solve them are still a challenge.
The list of main topics of NumHyp19 include:
• Well-balanced methods
• High-order methods
• Uncertainty Quantification
• Dispersive medium models
• Measure valued/statistical solutions
• Stochastic models
• Kinetic equations
• Asymptotic preserving methods
• Applications: geophysics, astrophysics, etc.
NumHyp19 will be a key activity of the European innovative training network entitled ModCompShock (Modelling and Computation of Shocks and Interfaces).
This conference is a satellite event of ICIAM 2019 that will be held in Valencia (Spain) from 15 to 19 July 2019.
All the information about abstract submission, registration, important dates, and application for grants can be found on the web site:
https://eventos.uma.es/27166/detail/numerical-methods-for-hyperbolic-problems-2019.html
To encourage the active participation of young researchers, there will be a poster session. A number of grants for students will be available.

Workshop: Mathematical Aspects of Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamics
RWTH Aachen University, Germany, March 5-7, 2018 (Mon-Wed)
The objective of the workshop will be to bring together experts from
mathematics and the natural sciences, to discuss recent developments in
non-equilibrium thermodynamics and related topics. The aim is to open up
a dialogue and explore possible connections, bringing together the
respective points of view of the different disciplines.
The workshop will consist of short presentations of 30-40 minutes,
followed by ample time for discussions. The presentations are not
intended to address the most recent results, but instead will provide a
condensed summary (the ‘big picture’) of the main ideas and techniques,
possibly illustrated by a representative example. Further details can be
explored in the discussions. We hope that such a format will offer an
overview over recent trends and new developments, and a possibility to
compare different approaches and techniques.

XVI International Conference on Hyperbolic Problems
Theory, Numerics, Applications
Aachen (Germany), August 1-5, 2016
http://www.hyp2016.de/
The objective of the conference is to bring together scientists with interests in the theoretical, applied, and computational aspects of hyperbolic partial differential equations (systems of hyperbolic conservation laws, wave equations, etc.) and of related mathematical models (PDEs of mixed type, kinetic equations, nonlocal or/and discrete models, etc.) that appear in the area of applied sciences.
The conference was first held 1986 in St. Etienne (France) and has been organized since then biennially at different locations all over the world: 2014 Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), 2012 Padua (Italy), 2010 Beijing (China), 2008 College Park (U.S.A.), 2006 Lyon (France), etc.
The conference consists of plenary and invited lectures (with pairs of invited lectures being held in parallel), and of sessions of contributed talks covering various aspects of the field. As has been done in the past, a special effort will be made to enable young scientists to attend the conference and to meet and interact with the more senior researchers.
Please contact us using the contact form or by email to info@hyp2016.de if you have any questions.
